SciCan has released a recommended user interface software update, version SL12R102, for all STATIM 2000 and 5000 units equipped with G4+ LCD controller boards worldwide. This update is designed to ensure optimal performance and trouble-free operation through several important bug fixes and system enhancements.
What Issues Does This Fix?
The SL12R102 update addresses several key functional areas:
- Enhanced Connectivity: Improvements to the SciCan Network Manager enhance stability and boot times. WiFi profiles are now retained after reboots, and on-screen messaging has been improved to clarify when a unit has WiFi but no internet access.
- Boot Loading Resolution: Fixes a bug where the real-time clock could not sync on certain board configurations, which previously caused the screen to freeze during the startup loading bar.
- LCD Display Improvements:
- Contrast/Brightness: A bug was fixed where brightness preferences were lost after a restart. Brightness increments are also now more clearly visible.
- Graph Animation: Corrected a bug where graph displays incorrectly represented cycle performance.
- USB Data Export: Resolved issues with the system detecting the insertion or removal of USB sticks. Additionally, cycle copy tasks can now be interrupted and resumed.
- System Settings:
- Beep Volume: Fixed a bug where accessing the volume button three times would decrease the volume to zero or fail to save the selected value.
- Maintenance Intervals: Corrects default maintenance counters to the recommended 6 months and 500 cycles.
- Updated Screen Saver: The screen saver will now display the default date and time rather than older products.
- Accelerometer Support: Provides additional support for the new accelerometer to enable the STATIM’s “LEVEL” function.
How to Identify Your Board Version
This update is strictly for G4+ LCD controller boards. To verify your unit:
- Navigate to SETTINGS and press INFORMATION.
- Look for the interface version (IF).
- A compatible G4+ board will have an IF version beginning with SL12Rxxx.
Update Instructions
Automatic Update (Internet Connected Units)
If your unit is connected to the internet, it will automatically notify you that new firmware is available.
- Recommendation: The upgrade file is large and may take over an hour to download depending on your network. It is best practice to start the upgrade at the end of the workday to allow it to finish overnight.
- Simply follow the screen prompts to download and update.
Manual Update
If you previously declined an automatic update or your unit is not connected to the internet, follow these steps:
- Download: Obtain the SL12R102 file from myCOLTENE.com.
- Prepare USB: Load the file onto a newly formatted USB drive.
- Install:
- Power the unit OFF, then power it ON and wait for the system to load.
- Insert the USB drive into the front port.
- Select YES when prompted to “Upgrade Firmware?”.
- Warning: The update takes approximately 25 minutes. Do not power off the system during this time.
Once the unit restarts, verify the update by checking the INFORMATION screen; the IF version should now read SL12R102.
