Expert advice for Piercing and Tattoo
Choosing the right STATIM autoclave for your studio ultimately comes down to a trade-off between speed and volume. While both the STATIM 2000 and the STATIM 5000 utilize the cutting-edge SciCan technology, they cater to different sterilization needs.
STATIM 2000: The Piercer's Choice for Speed
For the typical piercing studio that relies on "just-in-time" sterilization—the core advantage of the STATIM system—the STATIM 2000 is often the ideal machine. The 2000 is engineered for maximum speed, delivering a complete Unwrapped Hollow instrument cycle in approximately 6 minutes and 45 seconds (excluding drying). This rapid turnaround is essential for maintaining a continuous workflow and performing aseptic technique right in front of your client. Its smaller capacity, built for approximately 1 kg of instruments, is perfectly suited for sterilizing individual items like jewelry, needles, tapers, hemostats and clamps as needed throughout the day.
STATIM 5000: Power and Volume for High-Capacity Studios
The STATIM 5000, while still incredibly fast compared to conventional autoclaves, is slightly slower on its unwrapped cycle, taking approximately 9 minutes and 45 seconds (excluding drying). However, its larger cassette size makes it the superior choice for volume. With a maximum load of approximately 1.5 kg, the 5000 is better suited for:
- High-volume piercing studios with greater bulk sterilization needs.
- Combined studios that house both piercing and tattoo operations, requiring more capacity for wrapped instrument packs.
- If you already have a STATIM 2000, and want similar operation and maintenance for packages, and occasional unwrapped sterilization.
The Bottom Line: If your priority is the fastest possible on-demand sterilization for unwrapped instruments, which is the case for most dedicated piercing professionals, the STATIM 2000 is the recommended choice. If, however, you need the extra room for greater daily volume or frequently sterilize wrapped loads, the STATIM 5000 offers the necessary capacity.
Fast
STATIM provides sterilization and dryness at speeds faster than conventional chambered autoclaves.

- A complete solution: rapid sterilization with rapid drying via the STATIM Dri-Tec drying technology.

Larger than the 2000, the Statim 5000 has an additional sterilization cycle and a roomier cassette designed to process bulkier instruments and greater loads. It's a reliable cassette sterilizer that's compact enough to fit in patient treatment areas and fast enough to sterilize expensive Lasik, PRK, endoscopic and cataract instruments, including phaco handpieces, between procedures - it can complete an unwrapped sterilization cycle in just nine minutes and a wrapped cycle in just 17.5 minutes.*
The Statim 5000 is fully automatic. Simply select one of four sterilization programs and with a single touch of the keypad, begin the cycle. An advanced microprocessor controls all functions and maintains optimal sterilization conditions, from start to finish.
SciCan's Statim cassette sterilizers have a biological effectiveness that has been proven in tests for hollow and solid instruments at many internationally recognized institutes in Canada, the United States and Europe.
